You in Urology

It’s okay to ask

‘You in Urology’ is intended for people living with urological conditions (including bladder cancer, prostate cancer and overactive bladder) and their caregivers. The information provided by Astellas is for informational purposes only and is not meant to replace the advice of a healthcare professional.

This website was initiated and funded by Astellas Pharma Europe. All patient and healthcare organisations involved in the development of the platform received a fee for their time.

Have you been diagnosed with bladder cancer, prostate cancer or an overactive bladder, and do you…

  • Pee when you don’t mean to?
  • Avoid doing things you enjoy or social situations, because you are worried about urine leakage (sometimes called bladder leakage)?
  • Find that your urological condition is affecting your sex life, dating or relationships?
  • Find it hard to talk about your experiences?
  • Find it difficult to ask for help or information about your condition?

Then you’re not alone.

Urological conditions are health problems affecting the parts of men and women’s bodies involved in making and passing urine, or the male reproductive organs. Millions of people around the world live with urological conditions such as prostate cancer, bladder cancer and overactive bladder.1,2 Urology is the area of medicine focused on those conditions.3

The causes of these conditions are different, but some of the ways they impact people’s daily lives are similar. This can include uncontrollable loss of pee causing you to wet yourself (urinary incontinence). People may also experience sex and relationship challenges, impacts on family and caregivers, feeling embarrassed and effects on mental health, including the emotional impact.

Urology care should be about supporting you.

While living with a urological condition can have a big impact on your life, you don’t need to go through it alone. There is support to help you tackle this impact. It’s okay to ask!

On this website you can find:

  • Information about the ways overactive bladder, prostate cancer and bladder cancer can impact daily life
  • Tips on how to manage the day-to-day impacts of your condition
  • Guidance on talking to your healthcare team to get the support you need
  • Links to organisations that can provide further support.
